Safety info

Over 1.5 Million tourists travel to Peru every year. Is it dangerous? Not if you take your normal precautions when travelling around the world.

  • Use official taxis booked via your hotel or at the airport.
  • Do not walk on dark empty roads late at night.
  • Stick to areas where you see tourists.

As for general safety issues, you'll find that general street-smarts will carry you through. Most of the unfortunate events that befall tourists are the result of poor choices like wandering alone at night, getting drunk with strangers, or attempting to insert themselves into inappropriate cultural settings. Even so, most tourist-related crime is things like petty theft, bag-snatching, etc. Those are just as likely - actually, more likely to happen in Rome than they are in Peru.

Vaccines to Consider

You may be at risk for vaccine-preventable diseases while travelling. Talk to your travel health provider about which ones are right for you.

We are confident you will have lots of fun and will love Peru.
